Giant Knotweed Extract polydatin is the glycoside of resveratrol  isolated from the Chinese herb Polygonum cuspidatum.Polydatin is an effective candidate drug for the protection of photo-inflammation. Polydatin exhibitstherapeutic potential for vascular dementia, most likely due to its anti-oxidant activity and the directprotection of neurons.Polygonum is one of the plants of polygonaceae. It is native to east Asia and widely distributed in China. Knotweed is used in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine to treat a variety of ailments, including fungal infections, skin inflammation, cardiovascular disease and liver disease.

Resveratrol and emodin are the main functional components of polygonum cuspidatum. Studies have shown that resveratrol and emodin exhibit a wide range of antioxidant properties, such as LDL cholesterol oxidation and lipid peroxidation. Resveratrol has also been shown to contribute to cardiovascular health and blood circulation, relieve pain, clear away heat, damp, poison and phlegm. Other ingredients including dananone, emodin methyl ether and rhein have anti-inflammatory, arthritic and antimicrobial activities.
